Nandewar AssessmentWhat is the Nandewar Assessment? In Dec 2002 the NSW government commenced an assessment of the Nandewar bioregion. In NSW this bioregion covers 2,673,000 hectares. Located in the central north east of the state, it is bounded by the Queensland border to the north and runs to the south near Scone. It includes the towns of Inverell and Tamworth, Quirindi, Bingara, Barraba, Manilla and Bendemeer. The Peel, Macdonald, McIntyre, Namoi, Severn and Gwydir Rivers traverse the region, forming the MacIntyre, Gwydir and Namoi catchments. The final plan aims to achieve the agreed vision for the Nandewar bioregion; “Healthy and functioning rural landscapes planned and managed by the community for integrated primary production and conservation benefits,” and will
