Implementing a Forest Agreement
Once a forest agreement is in place it is continually monitored to ensure its milestones are being implemented. The progress of implementing milestones must be reported on each year, and the report made available to the public (see above). A forest agreement sets out the 'process' by which forested areas may be sustainably managed. A forest agreement must include provisions that address:
These provisions are implemented by a series of tasks, or milestones. So what are milestones? Milestones are simply tasks covering the range of issues which must be undertaken to better manage forested areas. Milestones contained within a forest agreement may include, for example:
