As part of its IAP responsibility, RACAC has commissioned several studies to identify the economic impacts arising from the IAP. As a support base, a comprehensive, up-to-date review of the literature relating to the economic relevance of the forestry and forest products industry in NSW was prepared.
The major studies commissioned were:
Figure 2.4 in Chapter 2 shows the relationship of these studies in the context of the IAP. These studies are discussed in more detail below.
In addition, the Wood Resources Study (described in Section 2.6), among other things, aims to spatially represent a measure of the value of the timber resource (based on an estimated harvesting schedule) to facilitate consideration of the wood resource and its value during the reserve design and negotiation process.
