Source: NSW CRA/RFA Steering Commitee First Forest Forum Meeting for the South East23 April 1997 Eden Regional Forest Forum will meet for the first time on Saturday May 3. Mr Kerry Pfeiffer, Eden Regional Forest Forum Chairman, said today that the forum, made up of more than twenty members representing a cross-section of community views, will meet for a workshop. "Forum members will receive a rundown on the comprehensive regional assessments (CRAs) and will discuss the contribution the forum can make to that process in the Eden region," he said. "The forum is an important aspect of community involvement in the Commonwealth/State Comprehensive Regional Assessment process. Its role is to keep the community informed of progress and developments in the CRAs and to keep the Governments informed of the regional community perspective on these issues." But the Eden Regional Forest Forum will be liaising with the joint Commonwealth-State Steering Committee throughout the assessment process in our area. "This ensures the community knows what is happening as it is happening, and that the communitys views are brought to the attention of Governments during and not after the completion of the assessments," Mr Pfeiffer said. "The comprehensive regional assessments are considering not only the timber resource and the conservation attributes of forests but also other values such as cultural and Aboriginal heritage, water and soil quality, and uses such as grazing, bee keeping and mining as well as social and economic impacts," he said. Peak groups invited to nominate representatives for the Eden Regional Forest Forum include:
